Walking in Shropshire

From Caer Caradoc sml

Just 15 minutes drive away from The Shippen are the Shropshire Hills which are a designated AONB area.

There are lots of walks and hills to choose from and small towns such as Church Stretton where you can find good places for refreshment.

This photograph was taken on Caer Caradoc on Bank Holiday Monday. Look, no crowds!

Bringing the Coast inland

We often yearn for the sea but we are in land-locked Shropshire and in August it is better to stay close to home and enjoy the sea of grasses on the Shropshire Hills and save the coast for the winter. Nevertheless to salve our yearning, Twenty Twenty Gallery will be holding a Coast exhibition during August where over twenty British artists and makers will be exhibiting their work which has been inspired by the sea and the coast.

Twenty Twenty Gallery – Coast exhibition. 3rd August to 7th September 2013.

Photographs at last!

Spent most of yesterday working with the photographer, Tom Foxall who has taken some great shots of the inside of the Shippen. Tom and his wife Barbara are also ex-students from Bower Ashton in the 1970’s and have their own holiday cottage in Much Wenlock so Tom was able to offer plenty of advice.

Having Twenty Twenty Gallery has enabled us to use The Shippen as an extended gallery so pictures on the walls may change over every now and then. For those of you that know Twenty Twenty Gallery you will recognise some of the artists’ work that appears in the photographs.

Nearly ready

The painting is almost finished, as is the kitchen and the furniture is arriving in the next couple of weeks. It’s been so cold that we have had the underfloor heating running whilst we have been working and it is definitely going to be a very cosy place to stay in the winter or even during one of our famous British summers.
